The Program

The CSU Northridge Jazz mission statement is to “guide each student toward artistic and practical success as a contemporary professional jazz musician”.

Our commitment is to develop strong mentoring relationships between students and faculty. Students in the Jazz Studies Program work with professionals and top notch educators from the very beginning of their college experience.  Student compositions and arrangements are consistently featured on CD’s that are professionally recorded and mixed in LA’s finest studios.

The CSU Northridge Jazz Studies Program offers its students regular concerts, clinics, and seminars with some of the world’s greatest figures in jazz and commercial music, due in part to our Los Angeles location – the heart of the nation’s music and recording industry.

The Jazz Studies Program offers a wide range of ensembles that reflect all styles of music. Our ensembles include the Jazz “A” Big Band, Studio Jazz Ensemble, Latin Jazz Ensemble, and small groups.
