Dave Robaire – Acoustic Bass

A native of Los Angeles, Dave Robaire has become one of the most in demand young bassists on today’s jazz scene. Robaire’s career began when he first moved to New York City in 2004 to attend the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. After five years in New York, Dave moved back to California to attend the masters program at California Institute of the Arts. Upon graduation, Robaire was accepted into the prestigious Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance at UCLA where he studied and performed with such luminaries as Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Billy Childs, and Benny Golson among many others. Dave performs mostly as a sideman or as a co-leader in the collectively formed group Holophonor, while occasionally leading his own group. Over the course of his career, Robaire has worked alongside a diverse collection of artists that includes Wynton Marsalis, Helen Sung, Gilad Hekselman, Greg Osby, Jacky Terrasson, John Ellis, and Dave Liebman. Dave has performed in some of the greatest venues and music festivals throughout the U.S. as well as Japan, Canada, Turkey, Israel, Sweden, and Mexico.
